The Te Uru Trip
The Te Uru Trip
This week my class went on a trip to an art gallery called Te Uru in Titirangi. But since my class is a double class and is so big we had to have 2 sessions. There was a morning session and an afternoon session. I was in the afternoon session. There were 2 minibuses that came to pick up some of the people that were going on the trip and there were also some parents that came to carpool. I was put in a car with
Sev,Sevs mum,Liam and Daniel Thompson. When we were going to Te Uru we went quickly. But the fast way we went is a secret. We
expected to be the first people to get there but we were the 2nd people to get there. We waited for the rest of the class to come and then we went into Te Uru.
When we got in we put our bags down and listened to the teacher that was from Te Uru. When the teacher was finished talking we went up the spiral stairs into a huge room that had a painting that looked like this.
This is a 7 panel painting that was made by the famous Colin McCahon. Colin McCahon was an old artist that did painting back in the 50's. That is a long time ago. Something I learnt about Colin is that most of his paintings are landscapes.
As you might see is in his painting there are hills and his painting goes from dark to light. Colin also liked putting texts into his painting. And most of his painting has these words I AM in bold.
After we learned a little bit about Colin McCahon we went back down to where we were at the start and went into the Art Studio. Our teacher from Te Uru said that we were going to make our own piece of landscape art. I really liked doing my6 landscape art. Now I hope that you will go to Te Uru and go and see the big painting that the amazing Colin McCahon made and explore Te Uru. I hope that you have enjoyed my blog post.

This week for Pacifica Transform we looked into Michel Tufferys artwork. To be more specific we looked at Michels letter art. Here is some information and more art about Michel Tuffery.

Michel Tuffery born in Wellington and does awesome peices of art. Michel Tufferys painting all have a story that goes with them. Michel mostly does Pacific arts. He has done carving on sea shells that he has found at the local beaches that he has gone to. There Michel lives and works in Wellington his birth place. Michel Tuffery has made a colletion of letters that he has painted. Inside the letters are patterns and storys.

We forst got a block writing letter. Then we used a black pen and looked at some of Michel's art and then we did some patterns inside our ones. My ones starting to look so cool. |
